Tsai Ching-te from the DPP of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is set to become the new president of Taiwan after unofficial election results showed that Tsai had received 5,000,000 votes, leaving her competitors from the other two parties far behind, while candidates from the Kuomintang (KMT) and Taiwan People's Party (TPP) announced their concedement. Vice President and future leader of Taiwan Tsai Ching-te declared victory outside the DPP campaign office in Taipei, in front of thousands of supporters.
